Pure Power

 Episode 1: First Steps

            The wind was blowing hard in the town of Brossard. Leaves were falling from trees as the branches rattled against windows. It was still dark out, as the sun wasn’t supposed to rise for about another hour, this fine day In the Month of July.

            For One Person, this was no ordinary Day. For Jason, it was an extremely important day. July 9^th, 2003, his 17^th Birthday. He was supposed to be meeting a few of his friends at a park on Athens street, to go Visit the new Pokemon Lab that opened up On Albony.

            “Why are you attacking me!?” asked a young Jason, face to face with a pack of Houndour. “I Have done nothing to anger you! Please Let Me Go!” he said, his eyes now full of tears. The wild pokemon Now Circled Him, growling and snarling. One After another, they all Leaped towards him, ripping his clothing to shreds in an attempt to hurt him. “Somebody Help Me!” he screamed terrified. “Please!!!”

            Suddenly, the Houndour started getting tossed off of him. Jason couldn’t see it, his face was buried in his hands facing the ground, but he could feel it and hear it, the sound of flames burning and pokemon being injured, he just wanted to wake up from this nightmare. Everything went quiet… He looked up and through blurry vision, managed to make out 2 Large Pokemon Flying off into the distance. Jason Tried to stand, but fell back due to his now injured Leg, he looked down as his hand rubbed against something. Near his hand, was a small Egg…..”What is this…?” he asked himself. He picked up and brought it close to his face and then suddenly….

“BEEP BEEP BEEP” rang Jasons alarm clock. Lazily, he turned over, grabbed and threw it out the window. “God Dammit Jason, that’s the 4^th alarm clock this month!” yelled His mother, who was outside Watering her Garden at the time. “Sorry Mom, won’t happen again!” he Yelled To Her, A large sweat drop on his forehead.

He Looked to the floor beside his friend And gently shook his Loyal Pokemon Charmeleon. “Hey Buddy, time to get Up!” he said quietly, reaching for his pokeball. Charmeleon stood up and yawned, before letting his friend return him to his ball. Jason quickly dressed, he put on his favorite pair of Jeans, Black ones with a White Dragon On The bottom of the left leg. Then A Dark Blue Muscle shirt, with white stitching on the shoulders and a white dragon symbol on the chest. “He Went to the kitchen, grabbed a Coke from the fridge and a handful of Doritoes as he ran towards the door.

“I’m off mom! Cya Later!” Said Jason waving to his mother. “Take care Jay, and happy birthday!” she said handing him a hundred dollars as his gift. “Thanks mom, this sure will help”.

“Bout time You show up birthday boy” said Jason’s girlfriend as he arrived at the park. “Your Late!”. Jason Walked Up To her, gave her a quick hug and kiss on the cheek. “Sorry Lea, slept in again! Damn alarm clock broke.” He said Laughing a little. “You mean you threw it out the window again didn’t you?” she said un-impressed. “Wow you’re good!” he said laughing again. “Now we should get going, I got a surprise for you!” Lea said smiling.

The Two walked over to the Brossard Pokemon Lab, and entered the large white building. The Place was Covered in Machinery the likes neither of them had ever seen before, There were shelves full of pokeballs on both sides, and different items that could usually be bought at pokemarts.

“Welcome to My Lab” said the young man in the Lab Coat. “ I’m Professor Shippo, I’m guessing your Lea and Jason, am I Correct?” he asked politely.

“That’s right” replied Lea, “Do you have my package ready?” she asked. “Yes, right this way please.” Professor Shippo led them to a small room in the far end of the lab. The Room Was empty except for a table in the right corner. On the table were two nap sacs, with a couple pokeballs, and a Pokedex.

            “What’s all this?” asked Jason confused at what he saw. “Your birthday present, we’re going on a Journey” said Lea happily, “Journey? What Journey!?” he asked still puzzled. “A Pokemon Journey you idiot, we’re going to get all the badges In the Cypher League!” she exclaimed, clearing things up. “Professor, do you have the other thing I asked for?” she asked turning towards Shippo, “Yes it is over there with your bag” he replied.

            Lea walked over to the table, and grabbed the one pokeball that was on it’s own. “Go!” she yelled Throwing the Pokeball to the ground before her. It opened and out popped a little Brown Pokemon with adorable Black eyes. “Eevee?” it said looking around. “IT’S SO CUTE!” Yelled Lea running up to it and picking it up. The little Pokemon looked almost smothered as the excited young girl hugged it tightly. Lea then Grabbed Another ball off the table and passed it to Jason. “This one is yours, check it out!” she said. “Alright…Go!” he said throwing the ball and releasing the Pokemon. “Eevee!” said His New Pokemon. “ I get an Eevee…?” he said Kind of shocked. “Is there a problem with that!?” replied Lea, a strange fire in her eyes. “Not at All!” He said returning it.

            “Well Thanks Professor” started Lea, we’ll be seeing you later. The Two Left the building, with all their new equipment, and Lea, with Eevee on her left shoulder.

*Later that Day*

            “Guess we can get going now” said Jason, sitting down on a bench at the park. “What did your mom say when you told her you were Leaving?” asked Lea, curious. “Told Her I Was Leaving? I Begged her to let me Leave, you don’t tell my mom Anything, you ask her permission!” he said laughing, Lea laughed with him as they sat together on the bench, “Hey Jason… you already had  a pokemon right?” asked Lea, looking at him. “hmmm?Yes…Why?” he asked, wondering what she was getting at. “We should try a practice battle before we Leave.” She suggested pulling out her pokeball. “Ok, sounds good.” He agreed.

            The Two Both Released their Pokemon at the Same Time. Lea using her new friend Eevee, and Jason using his first pokemon, Charmeleon. “This shouldn’t take too long…Your Not Using Bayleaf this time? Learnt a thing or two I guess…” thought Jason to himself. “Grr…Shut up! Eevee, tackle Attack!” ordered Lea. The Little hair ball, started running forward quickly. Charmeleon, dodged to the left quickly and smacked Eevee in the face with it’s tail. “Charmeleon… just finish it with a flame thrower so things don’t get out of hand.” Suggested Jason. Charmeleon Opened it’s mouth and shot out a steady stream of fire, burning the little brown pokemon to a crisp. Lea returned the pokemon, and congratulated Jason and his Pokemon.

            “Wow, he’s strong” said Lea, “How long have you had him?”. “Actually, a couple years now, I got him from an egg when I was still a kid. I still remember the day perfectly, kind of had a bad experience with some Houndour.” He replied. “I see…Well here is your reward for winning” she Leaned in and gave him a kiss. The Two Grabbed their stuff, and took off.

            “So where to first?” asked Jason. “Hmm… Well How bout we hit the Gym that’s in the N section of town?” she suggested. “Sounds good to me.” And off they went, hand in hand on the road of Pure Power!
