Song: “The Game” – Motorhead

Theme: Broli Tribute

Ah, you didn’t think you’d hear from me again huh? Well shove it up your ass sideways because I strike back every time I get too drunk to find my pants … and that ends up with me owning that ass Seifer a vid review. So this one is all about Broli … ok lets all get out of our systems, say it with me with extra sarcasm! “WOW! That’s original!!” Done? Ok, good. This one was actually pretty damn good if you can believe it. The song is SPOT ON. I didn’t think it would be when I booted this AMV up; I was like “What? Triple H’s song? This is going to suck …”. This video, did not. Oh imagine my surprise, this is actually one of the few songs that goes perfectly with the theme. The lyrics, pacing and beat are all very fitting to Broli’s personality. The lyrics (if you listen to them) really suit him.

I am the game you don’t wanna play me
I am control no way you can shake me
I am heavy debts no way you can pay me
I am the pain and I know you can’t take me

Broli is of course my personal favorite DBZ character, way back when I was a huge geek over it. He is the embodiment of control and pain, if you watch Movie 8, you see just how relentless he is, absolutely nothing the Z Fighters do, has any effect on him (of course the lame last-ditch effort by Goku, if you ask me, he should have done that to all the main bad guys if its that easy. It’s like a Genki Dama, but more accurate and takes less than 12 episodes to use). Besides the song this vid is good, uses the most appropriate clips from movie 8 and 10. Now what Broli tributes usually turn into are the same fucking clips used over and over in each and ever single one. Lemme break it down for you:

-         Hard song (some generic shit metal)

-         Goku and Piccolo wailing on Broli while he stands on a flagpole

-         Broli turning SSJU in the beginning of Movie 8

-         Broli running through a building, taking Gohan by the head and dragging him through a wall

-         Broli throwing Trunks

-         Broli getting punched by Goku, then he pushes the fist back with his chin

-         Goku shooting Broli with a point-blank kamehameha

-         Goku getting grabbed, then punched in mid-air

-         Vegeta getting thrown into a wall, making a large crater

-         Broli emerging from lava

-         Perfect Chow Kamehameha (if you don’t know what I’m talking about yet, please tattoo the word “n00b” on your chest and/or forehead).

-         Broli jumping on Goku’s chest repeatedly

-         Goku punching Broli with everyone’s combined strength

-         Giant Bio-Broli (what a joke, killed my Goten and Chibi Trunks)

-         Some other shit I don’t feel like writing down

So that’s about it, to say the least most of the Broli stuff is very unoriginal. This one actually doesn’t include very many of those above, only 2 I think actually, maybe only one for sure. The vid actually uses clips not often seen in Broli AMVs, which is good, because its only 3 movies to choose from, so clips get re-used a lot. I’ve seen an ass load of Broli vids in my time. My favorite so far was on Majin Planet, it was to a song by Tool “Hooker With a Penis”, that fucking kicked grandma’s ass straight to Purgatory. This is so far, my second favorite Broli AMV tribute, I’m not going so far to say its one of my favorites of all time, because if I keep review shit I absolutely love, then I’m going to sound like that cocksucker from http://www.aintitcool.com. Fuck I hate that guy, but this isn’t the place to discuss who I hate and don’t hate *cough* Seifer *cough*. ANYway, good vid, cool Saiya-Jinn, good song, is there anything else I need to make me happy? Oh yeah, a hooker … maybe some sake … yeah, that’s the ticket.

Chastisement – Rapid Fluid

Audio: 8.8

Visual: 8.3

Precision: 9.7

Anime: Kenshin

Hmm, hey everyone, I’m Caga, I review stuff, this is my first AMV review btw (In case you’re in idiot “AMV” means “Anime Music Video” and “btw” means “by the way”, btw). Ok, so this is my first AMV, and I’m doing “Rapid Fluid” by Jesmaster. The actual song is so damn good it makes you want to break your mom’s coffee table, set it on fire and put it out with the blood of a virgin goat … its THAT GOOD. It’s a callback to the really nitty-gritty metal, among the likes of other thrash metal enthusiast Children of Bottom and GWAR. The really hardcore get-up-and-strangle-your-grandmother kind of metal, obviously perfect for the bloody goodness that is Kenshin. The vid itself contains scenes from both Kenshin and Samurai X, so it’s a good balance with the best parts from both taken out and served inside a dead ronin’s skull, thick and creamy. It’s a very fast paced AMV, with pauses for the appropriate audio lulls, at no point does it become boring or are you urged to skip ahead to the good parts. The punch precision is seemless and nearly perfect, some of the best I’ve ever seen as an AMV veteran. The tiny noises go with small almost impossible to notice clicks in the video and of course massive drums and guitars are matched with furious action on screen. The vocals in the song are excellent too, although nearly impossible to recognize the lyrics individually, it really doesn’t matter since it’s the type of song where the words really don’t matter. This gets a high mark for using such a rare song, so seeing this AMV will open your eyes to new music, extra points for originality.

The only downside I could possibly find in this AMV would be it’s length, it’s much too short, I’ve often replayed the video two or three times in a row, so if Jesmaster would have been so kind to of done some repeating in the audio and prolonged the video, I would be giving this AMV a slightly better score.

Over all, this is one of my favorite AMVs of all time, I highly recommend it.
